How we rank AI software

The Rankings page surfaces five views of the AI software landscape. Each view answers a different question and uses the same underlying dataset, refreshed weekly.

Version v1.2Updated

Data source

Rankings are derived from a weekly source update of public AI-tool directories (currently Toolify). Each update covers traffic estimates, growth deltas, and category metadata for tracked tools, then writes a snapshot into our dirRankings collection keyed by month.

Ranking dimensions

Top AI by Trending
Toolify's weekly trending rank — weighted toward 30-day traffic growth, not absolute size. The Monthly Visits column shows the absolute number, but it is not the sort key. Use Categories or Regions to slice by absolute traffic within a niche.
Top AI by Categories
Best-in-class by traffic within each category (Writing, Image, Code, Voice, etc.). Pick a category from the selector to filter.
Top AI by Regions
Regional leaders by estimated traffic share. Pick a region from the selector to filter.
Top AI by SourcePending
Inherited from upstream data; criteria are under review. Hidden from navigation until the methodology is finalized.
Top AI by RevenuePending
Revenue figures are estimates from third-party sources, not all entries are independently verified. Hidden from navigation until verification coverage reaches the gate.

What the columns mean

Monthly Visit
Estimated monthly traffic to the tool's primary domain for the selected period. From the upstream source update, not independently verified per row.
Growth
Absolute change in monthly visits versus the prior period.
Growth Rate
Percentage change versus the prior period.
Tags
Categories the tool belongs to in our directory.

Limitations

  • Traffic estimates have wide error bars at the long tail. Numbers within ±30% of the upstream estimate should be treated as approximate.
  • Some entries previously represented aggregator or host domains (e.g. apps.apple.com, chromewebstore.google.com, force.com) rather than AI-specific products. We now filter these out at query time through a non-AI host blocklist so they no longer appear on the rankings page. See the data-sources page for the current filter rules.
  • Display names occasionally lag upstream renames. We override these case-by-case via a curated displayName layer.

Corrections

If a ranking row shows the wrong product name, traffic figure, or category for a tool you own, you can claim your profile to submit updates. Substantive ranking-engine corrections (methodology bugs, systematic data issues) are tracked publicly in our methodology changelog.

Disclaimer

Rankings reflect public traffic-intelligence signals only. They do not assess product quality, revenue, retention, or company health. Treat them as one input, not a final verdict.
