Question 1

What is SCMD?

Accepted Answer

SCMD is an open-source, local review tool for the persistent memories that Claude Code saves about you and your projects. It lets you inspect saved memories, keep or delete them, skip decisions, undo actions, and rewrite memory content. You can also inspect why a memory was saved. Changes remain staged until you confirm them, and deleted memories go to restorable trash. SCMD is MIT-licensed and has no telemetry or cloud service.

Question 2

How much does SCMD cost in 2026?

Accepted Answer

SCMD's pricing is not publicly available in the supplied product information. The project is open-source and MIT-licensed, but those details alone do not establish whether the developer charges for any distribution or related services. Check the official SCMD product page for current pricing or release information before budgeting for adoption. No verified subscription fee, one-time purchase price, or paid plan is documented in the available data.

Question 3

Is SCMD free?

Accepted Answer

No free tier is verified for SCMD based on publicly available information in the grounded product data. Buyers should treat access as paid or unconfirmed unless the vendor's official pricing page now says otherwise, because pricing pages may have changed since the last product update.

Question 4

SCMD vs Dial: what is the difference?

Accepted Answer

SCMD is documented as a local review deck specifically for persistent memories saved by Claude Code. It supports reviewing, rewriting, staging, and restoring memory changes. The supplied information identifies Dial as a potential alternative but does not provide verified details about its features, supported environments, pricing, or data handling. Based on publicly available information supplied here, a reliable feature-by-feature comparison is not possible. Choose based on your workflow requirements and verify each product's current documentation.

Question 5

What are the best alternatives to SCMD?

Accepted Answer

The supplied product record lists Dial, ApyHub, Pieces for Developers, Conductor, and Superset as potential alternatives to investigate. It does not establish that these tools provide the same Claude Code memory-review workflow. Compare their documented capabilities, supported environments, privacy practices, and pricing before choosing a replacement. Based on publicly available information supplied here, their suitability for managing persistent Claude Code memories is not verified, so treat the names as research starting points rather than confirmed substitutes.

Question 6

Is SCMD safe for general business use?

Accepted Answer

Practically, SCMD is designed for local review of Claude Code memories, and its description states that it has no telemetry or cloud service. Changes remain staged until you confirm them, while deleted memories go to restorable trash. These controls may help you review changes before committing them. Suitability for general business use is not verified, because the supplied information does not document security audits, access controls, compliance certifications, or enterprise support. Review your organization's security requirements before adoption.

Question 7

Does SCMD have an API?

Accepted Answer

Not verified: API availability is not publicly verified for SCMD. Buyers should not assume a usable public API exists until the vendor publishes developer documentation or confirms access directly. Before planning an integration, verify endpoints, authentication, rate limits, pricing, support terms, and whether API access is generally available or limited to partners.

Question 8

How does SCMD work?

Accepted Answer

Operationally, SCMD provides a local review interface for persistent memories saved by Claude Code. You inspect individual memories and choose whether to keep, delete, skip, undo, or rewrite them. The tool stages decisions until you confirm them, giving you a review step before changes take effect. Deleted memories go to restorable trash. The documented launch methods are /scmd:run and npx. Further installation requirements and platform compatibility are not verified in the supplied information.

Question 9

What does SCMD do?

Accepted Answer

Commercially, SCMD helps you manage the persistent memories Claude Code saves about you and your projects. You can inspect why a memory was saved, keep useful information, rewrite inaccurate content, skip a decision, or delete a memory. You can also undo actions, and deletions go to restorable trash. Its main purpose is to give you a review step over saved memories rather than requiring you to accept every stored item without inspection. It is specifically described as a Claude Code tool.

Question 10

Does SCMD train on user data?

Accepted Answer

SCMD's description states that it has no telemetry and no cloud service, indicating that the tool is designed to operate locally without sending telemetry to a SCMD cloud service. However, the supplied information does not explicitly document a model-training policy or establish how Claude Code and any other software in your environment handle data. Whether any user data is used for model training is not verified. Review the relevant privacy documentation before handling confidential business information.
